Franché Makes the Chiral Difference
2001 Nobel Prize in Chemistry

was awarded to three scientists for their research and findings in Chiral Technology. Chiral Technology is used exclusively in the pharmaceutical industry to ensure formulations are pure, extremely effective and produce the fewest side effects.

Franché skincare goes beyond what exists today in most skin products, by being one of the pioneers to utilize “Chirally Correct” ingredients.

Our positioning with paramedical skincare products and treatments, positions Franche’ as a niche market within the beauty industry, due to the fact that the majority of beauty products are aimed for mass-market usage. Under normal circumstances, companies do not purify ingredients due to the high cost involved, thus, potentially causing irritation, inflammation, and the signs of premature aging of the skin.

Chiral is the Greek word for hand. In the same way that our hands mirror each other, most skincare ingredients are chiral, meaning they have a” left” or a “right” chemical orientation. All body cells, including those in skin, recognize and prefer a specific orientation of an ingredient. This process is one of extreme precision. An ingredient attaching to a cell receptor is analogous to a hand in a glove.

For example, Vitamin C is 50% left-handed (L-ascorbic acid) and 50% right handed (D-ascorbic acid). Research has shown that only the “L” version is an effective antioxidant (and thus is “chirally correct”). The other half of the product ( if it is not “chirally correct”) is ineffective and can often be irritating, lead to a mismatch, not to mention a harmful reaction.

When a product is formulated properly, the skin receives the product and therefore performs better. Therefore, to be truly effective, a skincare formula must be “chirally correct” to restore purity and health on a molecular level.

MINERALS IN Franché® COSMETICS
Mineral cosmetics are good for all skin types at any age because minerals assist in helping to balance the skin's natural oils, helping to regulate sebum secretion and helping to prevent dehydration. Mineral cosmetics make the skin appear younger by reflecting light. Diagram 1 illustrates how one of the minerals in the Franché® formula, titanium dioxide, helps the skin to stay young by protecting from sun damage in this way. All of the minerals used in Franché® cosmetics are clean, non-comedogenic, very water-resistant and very long lasting. They also provide weightless concentrated color and coverage while defying humidity.

SPF IN Franché® COSMETICS
It is widely known today that a topical sunscreen is an essential part of the daily skin care regime to protect against damaging solar radiation which causes premature aging. Ultraviolet exposure from the sun's rays is classified as UVA and UVB. UVA rays deeply penetrate the skin, generating free radical production that leads to photo aging and some skin cancers. Traditional chemical sunscreens focus only on UVB rays. The minerals in Franché® cosmetics provide a full spectrum, UVA and UVB, sun protection factor of 20 in a "very water resistant" formulation. Diagram 2 shows how Franché®'s zinc oxide in the form of Z-COTE® acts as an inorganic, physical sunblock screening all UVB and practically all UVA radiation. This physical, mineral sunblock is preferred over chemical sunblocks, especially for people with sensitive skin. Franché® provides something new under the sun in a down-to-earth formula.

VITAMINS IN Franché® COSMETICS
What was once theory, is now scientific fact. Vitamins offer tangible results to the skin often seen as a glow or boost of elasticity. This is especially true for skin 40 years and older. The cumulative effect can be smoother, clearer skin. Vitamins A and E work as synergistic antioxidants quenching free radicals to protect from and to correct body tissue damage seen as premature aging. Vitamin A is a normalizer to balance any type of skin with the ability to penetrate the skin and increase its elasticity. Vitamin E is a natural preservative, anti-oxidant, and moisturizer. Both vitamins A and E are freeze-dried onto the liposome-coated mica found in Franché® cosmetics. Contact with the skin's natural moisture rehydrates these vitamins as illustrated by Diagram 3. Once released, these two beautifying vitamins in Franché® cosmetics provide the proper environment for correction of skin damage due to photoaging. The skin looks plumper, younger fresher...Franché®!

COLOR CONCEPTS
The Franché® Line contains versatile color basics. The identical flawless formula of the Face, Eye, and Lip & Cheek Color allows for color blending from all compacts to create custom color. The following three-color concepts explain a logical approach to the use of cosmetic color on the face.

* Most women have learned this concept in building a wardrobe. Dark color makes areas look smaller and light color makes areas appear larger. The same concept holds true in makeup application. Examples: Light shades highlight when applied in the center of lips to create a full pout. Dark color applied below cheekbone contours the face.
* Warm color tones reflect light vs. muted shades that absorb light. Examples: Goldens, apricots, and warm browns brighten deep set eyes, enlarge small eyelids and smooth crepey skin texture. Greys, ash browns, and blue-based colors contour to recede prominent brow bones.
* Complementary colors found opposite one another on the Color Wheel, neutralize each other when mixed together and enhance one another when placed side by side. Example: Green eyes surrounded by red-based warm brown or purple eyelid shadow appear greener.

In conclusion, the perfect custom color to enhance every feature can be created using color logic, so makeup is demystified. (i.e. blue-violet blood vessels seen through thin under eye tissue are neutralized by applying a mixture of peachy brightener and yellow-toned concealer.)
